This past weekend we competed at Granite City Speedway on Friday night and Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN on Saturday.
Friday night was not a good night for us. We started out by drawing a bad number so we had to start in the back of our heat race. The track was very wet and still had standing water in places so we finished where we started. For the feature, we started 13th and we were up to the 7th place position before we got caught up in a wreck, which ended our night.
Saturday night was The Fallen Lineman Modified Special. There were 26 cars on hand and we once again did not draw very good so we had to start 8th in our heat. Right away, something did not seem right with the car as it was very difficult to drive. Every time I went into the corner the car would bottom out and when I picked up the throttle the front end would lift off the ground but we were able to hang on to a 7th place finish. After the race, we noticed the right front shock was broke, most likely from our wreck the night before and we did not catch it. For the feature, we started 19th in a stacked field of cars. We wasted no time and started to pick them off one by one and found ourselves in the 5th place position with about 10 laps to go. At that point, the leaders were well out in front so we hoped for a caution but never got one so that is where we finished. We looked at the lap times after the race and saw that we were 2 tenths of a second faster than the leaders at the end of the race so if there would have been a caution we would have had a good chance at getting the win.
This next weekend we will be racing at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls on Friday night and then Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday.
