This past weekend we had the Badger Shootout Swing for the Advantage RV Modified Tour, where we raced at Rice Lake Speedway on Saturday and were supposed to race at Eagle Valley Speedway in Jim Falls, WI on Sunday (canceled due to rain).
Saturday at Rice Lake Speedway, there were 22 Modified on hand. We drew a good number and started 2nd in the heat and pulled off the win. This put us in the redraw and we drew the number 1 so that is where we started the feature. The race started out pretty good as we ran in second for about half of the race, but the track took rubber on the bottom and we were running through the middle. We got passed and then moved to the bottom and followed the train. On the last lap, a lapped car cut us off on the final corner causing us to slam on the brakes and the guy behind us ran into us, causing us to get stuck together. Luckily, we were still able to cross the finish line but lost a position trying to get there. We finished 4th. This definitely was not the results we were looking for, but we felt like we had a pretty good car but still know of a few things where we can gain more speed.
Currently, we are sitting comfortably in 3rd in the points for the Tour, within reaching distance of 2nd with 4 races left.
This upcoming weekend we will be at the Great Lakes Border Battle at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, WI. There will be a practice Friday night and then 2 complete shows Saturday and Sunday paying $3,000 to win.
